Comments on: Slow food, slow travel: Italy

Hi, I’m travelling with my family to Italy for one week, we’d like to stay in an apartment. Any suggestions of places a little less touristy with good farmer’s markets, a few good restauraunts nearby and lots of nice hikes? I know this is a lot of places in Italy and why I’m having trouble deciding. We’ll be travelling in July,

I really enjoyed this and completely agree with not "doing" Italy in 10 days. It's better to stay in a localized spot and just enjoy, which is true to Italy. Thanks for the shout out!

Sometimes it is better not to have an agenda when traveling. Just take it slow and make sure you see the out of the way places. Asking the locals where to go can be really helpful. My great-grandparents were born in Italy. I would love to go and see where they came from. I only wish they were still alive so that I could ask them more questions.

Nice article – I have a feeling I'd really enjoy Italy, and you're exactly right when you say that the best way to appreciate the place is to slow down.
