I've been to SXSW about fifteen times and have to say that I've loved it every time. It's really lost something in the past five years though. So many people have descended on it that no matter how much you've paid for a badge or a wristband (hundreds) it is often difficult to get into shows. The great thing about it, though, is that I almost always find one band that I've never heard of before who blows me away. It's difficult to understate what a party this event is – hipster magazines start their events at noon and the last bands don't go on until 2 or 3am. There were a couple of years there where Vice threw parties straight out of Beastie Boys "Fight For Your Right To Party" video.
