Great post!

Your right, the South of France is a super place to visit, and it doesn't have to cost a fortune. There's so much to see and do, then there's the cuisine and wine and sun etc etc! I was there last Summer and I'm looking forward to returning in September of this year!

A site I would recommend for anyone interested in the South of France is:

I have to say you pretty much summed it all as as good as it could be. I really don't have much to say other than the fact that I completely agree with eating at family run restaurants. I always try and tell people to do this because this is how you get a true sense of what real traditional French food is. Another spot that I would recommend seeing however is Les Gorges du Tarn which is my favorite place to go and I have to go every year that I go to France. Just driving through it alone makes me feel like I am in paradise. To me there is nothing like driving on a tight road at the base of a cliff that overhangs with a ravine on the other side and a small river at the base of the valley. If you have ever been rafting or kayaking this is probably one of the best places to do it. People here are extremely nice and patient and love to show you around. The best part of the whole trip will be coming to the top of the valley and stopping at one of their many sight seeing points and just gazing out across miles of valleys and cliffs. If you would like to see country sides that you can only dream about, the south of France will be that place and you will thank yourself a million times in the end.

Wonderful article! Good point about taking advantage of Market Day. It will give you a chance to interact with the locals and try a variety of famous south of France treats like Madeline’s and callisons!
