Utah is HANDS DOWN the best place to ski! How can you argue 14 resorts in Utah, 12 in which are within 1 hour of each other, and several of them virtually connected! Not to mention the accessibility from SLC international Airport. The skiing is awesome, and the powder is amazing! Park City, Utah has so many events that keep this little town busy all year long. The summer time is just as busy as the winters. Dont miss the 350+ miles of trails for hiking and biking- many are single track! What a paradise!

Hi... do you have any recommendations for snowboarding this December for scared beginners? Would be cool if the town had some night life too.

Thanks! :)

Powder Mountain should be on this list, easy. One of the largest ski resorts in North America, and one of the least developed or crowded. Can you say "back bowl"? How about "mad powder"?

My favorite Vermont ski resort is Burke Mountain - not the biggest, or the most famous, but definitely one of the best. Good value, too.

Alta/Snowbird denied - I guess we will have to keep that 40 inches of powder we received over the weekend to ourselves :)

I've never been to Revelstoke but I always heard about the legendary powder there, and that of other nearby mountains like Kicking Horse. Would love to head up that way one wintry day.

If you're in Vancouver and don't want to travel that far for deep, dry, champagne powder, I recommend Big White in Kelowna, it's only about 4 hour drive. I love the terrain there.

@Ramona - I personally haven't been out to Sun Valley yet but as David pointed out below, it's challenging to come up with a list of just 10 resorts. Sorry!

@David Page - Agreed. There are many great mountains out there but trying to determine a top ten list can be a bit daunting! Thanks!

@ Sarah - Haha. I was expecting a bit of blacklash for including it. I personally thought it would have been the first comment. I highly recommend Revelstoke as there is so much backcountry to that place if you don't mind a bit of hiking.

Deer Valley...? I guess if you call rejecting snowboarders "customer service." (But you expected a little snowboarder backlash for that one, right?)

Other than that, great roundup! Dying to hit up Revelstoke the next chance I get.
