Dominical is a sleepy beach town on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, four hours southwest of San Jose. There’s an epic surf break and that’s what it’s known for. However, surfing is only scratching Dominical’s surface.

The nearby beach of Playa Ventanas has a whole collection of sick beach caves where the ocean swell crashes through. It’s also a nice spot for a coconut water. The interior is all about jungles and waterfalls, the rainforest at Hacienda Baru is home to sloths and a canopy zipline. And you simply can’t beat the gorgeous Nauyaca Falls. This two-tier waterfall is a photographer’s dream, complete with refreshingly inviting swimming holes — not to mention cliffs for daredevil diving.
