After the earthquake and tsunami of March 2011, Ayumi Ikushima’s Kyoto tour company lost much of its foreign business.

IN RESPONSE, AYUMI, a specialist in Japanese traditional garden and ikebana, started catering to local visitors. She explains the Japanese spirit, the balance of things, and how the passing of time renews all:

Japan has seen disaster, but if we can always find balance and beauty, we will be renewed with the passing of the seasons.
