Last year, Ann Morgan realized that her bookshelf contained mostly writers from the UK and North America. So she set out to correct her “blindspot” by reading a book from every country in the world.

In this video, she describes her experience: struggling with the lack of available translated books, getting surprised at the eagerness of strangers from around the world sending recommendations for her reading list. She ended up reading at least one book from each of the world’s 196 countries.

Check out the video above to hear more about her experience. You can also read about it in her book Reading the World (US title: The World Between Two Covers) or on her blog.
