THERE’S DEBATE OVER how much in-person communication is non-verbal. I’ve heard 90%; if you believe research then perhaps it’s somewhere between 60% to 70%. In any case, it’s clear that the majority of communication happens not between our mouths and our ears, but between our eyes and our body movements. Which definitely explains all the misinterpretations on Facebook and over email.
The misinterpretations in the above video occur due to the fact that she has no clue what’s being said. But she’s getting by; sometimes that’s enough.
