THE MASSIVE EARTHQUAKE THAT HIT NEPAL has now killed over 3000 people. That catastrophe would be bad enough, but it also happens to be the time of year when climbers are making their attempt on the summit of Mount Everest. The earthquake triggered an avalanche on the slopes of one of the mountains next to Everest, and the avalanche hit the Everest base camp.
This video, shot by German climber Jost Kobusch, catches the initial moments of the Earthquake, followed by the terrifying moment when he turns and sees a wall of snow falling down on the camp. The avalanche has killed at least 17 people, and authorities are still trying to get a handle on people who may have been killed in more remote villages from other landslides or avalanches in the region around Kathmandu.
