I’M SITTING in front of my laptop not knowing what to write. After watching the above video all I know is that I must share this — as I wipe away the tears I think I’m still processing it.

The words that immediately come to mind are understanding and compassion. This, to me, is the start of understanding. I may never know what it’s like to have a disability like anyone in the video, but attempting to understand — just the act of wanting to understand — is the birth of compassion. Extend this notion to all people in the world, whether or not there’s a physical disfigurement, and I say we’re on the right path.

The project — “Because who is perfect?” — was created by German agency Jung Von Matt/Limmat, who worked with various clothing stores in Zurich, to question society’s ideas of perfection.
