LAST YEAR Eric Bach, Taylor Filasky, and John Post — known collectively as the Modern Gypsies — hit the road on their first “compassionate adventure.” In Ecuador, they climbed the 19,347ft Cotopaxi, one of the highest active volcanoes in the world, and helped construct a clean-water well in the Chimborazo province alongside the organization Free the Children.

A year later, they decided to throw themselves into another compassionate adventure. This time their mission is to navigate Kenya’s notoriously challenging roads entirely on motorbikes, highlighting the many social enterprises that are doing great work throughout the country along the way.

“Ecuador was one major act of compassion and one epic adventure. But for this, I think the whole f*cking trip was an epic adventure.”

Like all great adventures, things don’t exactly go as planned.
