RECENTLY, POLARIS, an organization working to fight modern slavery, published a new report that found that 72% of trafficked people were Latina, mostly coming from countries Central America, Mexico, and Brazil. More than a third were smuggled across the border, even though many didn’t realize they had entered the U.S. illegally. 63% were minors.

The organization found that many of these victims had been forced to live in brothels across twenty U.S. states and Puerto Rico over the past nine years. Read the full article in Fusion here.
