Popular with tourists on safari, overlanders on their way north to Cairo or South to Cape Town, and enthusiasts of early human history, Kenya is the economic powerhouse of East Africa.

Tourism accounts for the largest share of the country’s foreign earnings as thousands of visitors arrive to see up to a quarter of a million wildebeest make their annual migration between Kenya and its southern neighbor, Tanzania. The southeast of the country holds the giant Tsavo National Park, popular with game viewers. The North East is a considerably tougher challenge for travelers on their way north to Ethiopia – riding atop a cargo truck for two days has become a popular story amongst many who have made the journey without their own vehicles.
