60 miles southwest of Paris, the city of Chartres along the Eure River is best known for its cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And the cathedral is known for its stained glass and its labyrinth.

Less well-known is the Maison Picassiette, a folk art house within walking distance of the historic center, that was made piece by piece by a cemetery worker. Though less "touristy" than the cathedral, the house is on Matador's folk art environments list and one of the most impressive mosaics.
