Here is what it’s like to be homeless in Super Bowl City
The homeless have to “leave the streets” for Super Bowl Sunday said Ed Lee, mayor of S.F. back in August.
Whether it is over safety concerns or aesthetics, according to Vocativ, the City of S.F. offered the homeless a simple choice: move or to go jail.
Displacing the homeless whenever it is convenient is hardly a pleasant way to treat fellow human beings and it is certainly not helpful to end the struggle these people face daily. But maybe there would not be a homeless problem if the local government had spent the nearly $5 million it is paying to host the Super Bowl to help those who need it most.
