By juxtaposing simple icons, artist Vahram Muratyan expresses a novel’s worth of cultural differences between New York and Paris.

I LOVE THE WAY VAHRAM MURATYAN acknowledges (and in this way diffuses) the inevitable cliches produced when distilling entire cities and cultures into icons.

He describes his project “Paris vs New York” as:

A friendly visual match between two cities told by a lover of Paris wandering through NewYork. Details, clichés, contradictions : This way, please.

Muratyan’s work will be released as a hardcover book by Penguin later this October. For more iconography, check his blog. What do y’all think? How do these glyphs of culture affect you?
