"Wildflower season" in Texas is in the spring, when rural highways are flanked with vibrant bluebonnet, indian paintbrush, and dogwood, among dozens of other flowering species. Not all plants follow this schedule, though. The shot above was taken in October, on the 7.5-mile loop trail to Jones Spring in Pedernales Falls SP. There was bitterweed in bloom all over the park, but this stretch was absolutely covered.
