We are facing an environmental crisis, an economic crisis, and a crisis of the human spirit.

Tim Patterson sent me the trailer for a new documentary called the Economics of Happiness, a film with a heavy slant towards localization. How “going local” will alleviate environmental issues, economic issues, and address our declining levels of happiness by bringing us, once again, together as a community.

Happiness is a recurrent theme we discuss over at Brave New Traveler. Everyone wants to be happy, right?

So what are we to make of this?

The number of Americans who say, “yes, I am very happy with my life peaks in 1956, and goes slowly, but steadily, downhill ever since.
