Artist and musician Pharrell Williams and entrepreneur David Grutman just opened a quirky new hotel in Miami Beach that completely reimagines Art Deco with its whimsical, fun, and stylish design. Set in a historic area, the Goodtime Hotel is a vibrant mix of subtle pastel colors and cozy wicker furniture with a dash of daring leopard print to add flare.
The creative concept behind the project is a collaboration between designer Ken Fulk who was in charge of the interior, the New York firm Morris Adjmi which was responsible for the building design, and landscape architect Raymond Jungles who crafted the outdoor spaces.
The Goodtime Hotel features a total of 266 rooms, half of which look out over Biscayne Bay and the rest over the Atlantic. Guests also get to enjoy Strawberry Moon — a 30,000-square-foot restaurant and pool club channeling a Caribbean aesthetic. Additionally, there’s a gym, retail space, and a peach-colored bar named the Library.
“We want The Goodtime Hotel to impart a feeling of both revitalisation and that rare, exciting thrill that takes over when you discover something special. It’s that adrenaline-fuelled sensation of entering a whole new setting and a whole new mindset. This place will provide a natural good time for all who come through,” Pharrell Williams shared in a press release.
Ken Fulk’s concept for the hotel interior aims to “recall the opulence and nostalgia of a time gone by,” according to the release, and it does so brilliantly by sprinkling decorative details such as pink rotary dial phones with bespoke drapes.
The Goodtime Hotel is located between Sixth and Seventh on Washington Avenue, South Beach, and officially opened its doors for guests on April 15, 2021.
