THE FESTIVAL KNOWN AS the Highline Meeting definitely just made it on my must-do-soon list.
The first Meeting took place back in 2012. It’s the brainchild of Alessandro d’Emilia and Armin Holzer, who wanted to share the incredible scenery of Monte Piana in the Italian Alps with extreme sports professionals and enthusiasts from all over the world.
The ropes used aren’t tightropes, but are slacklines, so they can bounce up and down and move side-to-side, allowing for more mobility.
Besides chilling out on hammocks dangling hundreds of feet above the stunning mountain landscape, the festival also has a bar, a kitchen, jam sessions, a yoga workshop, and even tandem paragliding flights. Many participants are professional slackliners, so there is plenty of playing around on the lines to sit back and be in complete awe at.
This year’s festival is scheduled to start September 2 — check out the Highline Meeting website if you want to go play in the Alps with some fellow adventurers.
