ORIZABA IS THE THIRD TALLEST MOUNTAIN in North America. So climbing up Orizaba is a bit of a feat done in any amount of time. Which makes it all the more impressive that Karl Thompson, an average guy who works a 9-to-5 office job, along with his friends Joey Schusler and Thomas Woodson, managed to get off work, fly to Mexico, climb Orizaba, ski down it, and get back in time for work on Monday.

Thompson said it was “the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard,” and would not recommend it to others, but the trip looks like a complete mess and an absolute blast. The trio (along with their filmmaker friend Max Lowe) forgot to bring a map, didn’t get the insurance on their car (which struggled through the muddy mountains), and got terrible altitude sickness by going from sea level to 18,500 feet in a matter of hours. But they made a memory that they’ll never forget.
