KUNKUSH THE CAT’S FAMILY DIDN’T WANT TO leave him behind when they fled Iraq, so they took him with them. But he got spooked when they reaches the Greek island of Lesbos, and they were separated. By the time he was found, they had been moved on and relocated. So volunteers who found him took him to the vet, and he was then taken by a volunteer to Berlin. From there, a social media campaign began to find his family.
The family of six — a mother and her 5 children — were found in Norway. This video, taken by the Guardian, of the moment they were reunited, is awesome and heartwarming and is an amazing bright spot in a story that is so routinely full of horrors and nastiness. Welcome home, Kunkush!
