The Consummate Travel Companion
Everyone that travels brings a piece of home with them (especially backpackers)… something they rely on during their journey. It could be a camera, their hiking shoes, a pair of shades, their lucky backpack. For me… it’s my water bottle… This Nalgene bottle has seen the world I’ve seen, experienced the extremes of hot and cold, height and depth, along with me… it’s my reminder that there is a world out there for me to explore… it’s sit here with me now, on the desk in my office… eager, anxious and prepared for our next adventure…

This bottle has travelled across the vastness of Canada, zig-zaged through the small towns of England, and Wales, ascended great mountain peaks, crossed deserts and ocean passes in Africa… and now it sadly sits on the desk in my office, trapped… I must liberate it once more!!!
What is your consummate travel companion? What is the item that sits nearby in your everyday life reminding you of where you’ve been and where you can go?

My Petzl headtorch. Fantastic for camping and hiking as leaves my hands free and also handy to have in my daysac or on the bedside table for those frequent African power cuts!

I’ve got a little wood carved dragon I found at the Airport in Denver when I was sixteen. Been with me ever since to more than 15 countries and always close at hand for the next adventure.
