@johnlees123 Coming from a city of desert area I am Jitendra from India, living in Pinkcity Jaipur! I love travelling but as my pocket’s health is not too fit, I am not able to go to many places! I am looking for genuine travelers, experts, friends and cultural exchanges. I am a peace loving and easygoing person, poetic at heart with some…[Read more]

Lucky enough to be taken to South Africa in 1968 by my emigrating family I; a) learned what going & being away meant & b) witnessed apartheid in the raw - Both experiences have marked the boundaries of my journey to middle-age.
Since my early 20's India, Sri Lanka & the countries of S E Asia are the destinations in which I have felt most "at-home" and most welcome and to which I return when I need a positive-life top-up. Selfishly, it is also where I go to meet interesting people, eat good food, develop writing ideas and get warmth from sources other than fossil fuels.
Having children and satisfying their needs for school etc eventually curtailed my travels but now they are embarking on their own journeys I am free to travel, unfettered by anything apart from occasionally sore knees & the need to be near grandchildren who I have learned to love joyfully, in ways I did not know existed.
I have just completed my first novel, which I am trying to get into print & am now on with the second, set in Burma circa 2007/8
I still prefer to travel alone because I see much more and I suppose my fundamental selfishness is frustrated by shared trips. I also find material for writing projects come to me more easily when travelling solo.
No matter where I am books free my spirit, beer & bidi's make me happy, intelligent company happier still and trains, the journey within the journey, transport me to heaven - A real place, where steam, diesel fumes and motion combine to create a very private peace in a public place.
When not writing, travelling and being occupied by grand-children I spend time on my boat 'Freya', moored in Devon. Devon is where I hide!
