Hi, I’m Kristin. I’m a twenty-seven year old American who, for the past couple years, has called India home. I didn’t graduate college with a passion for development work but fell into it several years after working in Human Resources in corporate America. After learning about that there are currently 27 million slaves worldwide I chose to uproot my life and shift to India, to learn about what NGOs are doing here to try and fix the problem. I am now extremely passionate about development work and women empowerment. I have been researching and studying anti-trafficking work with several different Indian NGOs. Most recently, working with Apne Aap Women Worldwide. After working with the community in Dhrampura, I saw their passion for sewing and heard time and time again from the women and girls about their want for a more “formal” income generation program. Because, of my past learnings and background I helped to take on the responsibility of formalizing the IGP and helped these women and girls create their program to earn a dignified livelihood outside of forced prostitution.
