Anuar Patjane Floriuk was born in Tehuacán, México. He Studied Social Anthropology at Universidad de las Americas and wrote his thesis and a book about tourism impact and identity transformation in Mayan communities in the Yucatan Peninsula. He started photography as a kid and began photographing professionally while studying anthropology and doing ethnographic fieldwork. His work has been published in National Geographic and National Geographic Traveler, Conde Nast Traveler, Corriere della Sera, Muy Interesante, Unique Magazine, Panorama, Sputnik, Wired, Mental Floss, Practical photography, Shutterbug, Better Photography, The Atlantic, 127 magazine, and many magazines and newspapers around the world. He was the first place Winner of National Geographic Traveler contest 2015 and the second place winner of World Press Photo (Nature category) 2016.
