Whitney is nine and loves geology! A highlight of her visit to Texas was touring Natural Bridge Caverns near San Antonio. She loved hearing about the history of the caves, entering the grand room, and receiving “cave kisses” (drops of water) throughout the tour.
With both coastal calm and big-city energy, the Gulf Coast offers more than just miles of sandy shoreline. Follow the Waltons as they journey from the Galveston Fishing Pier to up-close animal encounters in the wild bayous near Houston. Mara is seven and loves delicious snacks and food. Texas did not disappoint in this category! She really enjoyed trying lots of tasty Texas treats, including cookie dough ice cream at Rhea’s in Gruene.
In South Texas, culture and history flow as deeply as the rivers that shape the land. Alongside the Waltons, the journey winds from the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi to the underground wonders of Natural Bridge Caverns. Later, a cruise through the heart of downtown on the San Antonio River leads to dinner at Tex-Mex classic Mi Tierra Café, where the vibrant flavors set to mariachi music bring the region’s heritage to life.

Becca is four years old and loves surprises. She enjoyed going to Meow Wolf in Grapevine and talked for days about the surprise slide behind the washing machines! Becca also loved meeting Katie the skunk at the Armand Bayou Nature Center outside of Houston.
Rolling hills, big flavors, and a spirit of adventure define the Texas Hill Country. The Waltons dive straight in with a taste of the region, sampling true Texas BBQ at Salt Lick in the small town of Driftwood, followed by ice cream and dancing in nearby Gruene. Just outside of Austin, Lake Travis sets the scene for tubing and wake surfing, wrapping up the family’s list of larger-than-life experiences on their trip through Texas.
