Here at Matador, we’ve been creating travel content about Great Britain for over a decade, and we like to think we know the destination pretty well. Whether it’s the astounding diversity of the “British accent,” how the terrain shifts dramatically as you travel the island, or the fact that British food is anything but “beige,” our experiences have uncovered the tremendous breadth and depth of what it means to visit the country today. But, inevitably there are still ways Britain surprises us.

And we know we’re not alone. British Airways and VisitBritain have joined forces to research and present Americans’ 50 most-searched online questions about the UK—and provide answers! Matador is thrilled to take part in the campaign, and we’ve put together our own answers, in video format, to 4 of those queries. Scroll down to view the questions and their answers, and then continue your exploration of all things Britain by browsing some of our favorite destination content. You might just learn a thing or two (or twenty) that will surprise you.
