I DON’T KNOW WHAT’S MORE SURPRISING: That 4 million visitors go up the Empire State Building each year, or that people queue up for an average of 1.5 hours in order to do so.

You can buy skip-the-line tickets in advance for basically all these places (thanks, internet!), but, I don’t know… Some of GetYourGuide’s suggestions for what to do instead of spending your vacation waiting around sound way more appealing than the top attractions.

Eschewing the Eiffel Tower’s 2-hour queues to eat croissants, stroll by the Seine, and explore the Marais instead? HELL. YES.
