Love it or hate it, Baile Átha Cliath (meaning "town of the hurdled ford" in modern Irish) is one of the most important cities in Ireland. It has survived the Easter Rising, the Anglo-Irish War of Independence, and the Irish Civil War...all with significant damage in structure, but not so much in spirit.
