LONDON IS ONE OF THE GREATEST cities in the world. And it’s millennia old, so there’s a lot to see and do, which for the newcomer, can be overwhelming. We dipped into our new travelstoke app to find the 20 absolutely essential London experiences. From the obvious (cough, Big Ben), to the less obvious (cough, Wilton’s) to the overrated (cough, the London Eye) — here are the musts.

1. Walk the Thames Path

2. Cross Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge

Greater London, United Kingdom

I’ve been to London a bunch of times. I would definitely recomend the climb. A different lovely perspective of such and old and great city.

3. Check the time at Big Ben

4. Nerd out at Platform 9 and 3/4

Platform 9 3/4

Someone managed to turn this into a tourist trap. If you are a Potter head, you still need to go.

5. Spend Chinese New Year at the China Town Street Market

China Town, Street Market

London, United Kingdom

Try and go at Chinese New Year. It’s crazy! To eat: New World (old school dim sum trolley service / no menu or prices listed).

6. Spend nothing on the Natural History Museum

Natural History Museum

London, United Kingdom

Another great London Museum. Also great for kids. From memory I think it’s free.

7. Stroll across the Prime Meridian at Greenwich Park

Greenwich Park

London, United Kingdom

Greenwich Parks offers cafes, museums, the observatory and nature life. With a lake, animal life, flower gardens, tennis courts and much green space, come if you want to relax, sunbath, exercise, picnic, meet with friends or simply marvel at the views over Canary Wharf, the Old Naval College, the O2 Arena and London.

9. Have a beer and watch a show at Wilton’s Music Hall

Wilton’s Music Hall

London, United Kingdom

An amazing place for a date — super cool pub in an old, old building, attached to a really cool music venue. Short walk from Tower Bridge. #pub #livemusic #musicvenue
