FAN OF LORD OF THE RINGS but don’t have the time or money to visit New Zealand? Visit Guatemala, 25 minutes away from the city of La Antigua, where the “Hobbitenango” resort allows travelers to stay in hobbit houses surrounded by mountains. Even better, the entire project is eco-friendly and completely run by local Guatemalans. Daniel Terzuola and Roberto Arzu, the founders of Hobbitenango, aim to create a village that empowers locals, helps the environment, and provides a little magic on the side. Eventually, they plan to have ten hobbit homes in total, and a farmer’s market.
