Editor’s note: This is not trick photography. Nor are the people photoshopped out. Paris is the world’s most-touristed city; in 2013 it had approximately 29.3 million visitors. So how did MatadorU student and photographer Genaro Bardy manage to capture the streets with not a soul on them? He waited until Christmas Day 2014, just after midnight, when everyone was home sleeping, no one out partying. He spent six hours moving around the city, 14km on foot, 8km on public bikes, and an Uber to get home.
You’re not likely to ever see such a deserted Paris in person, so enjoy these photos.
