The World Cup is still more than half a year away, but if you haven’t yet booked a hotel room, you may be cutting it close. A September 2025 study found that many of the 16 host cities have fewer hotels than needed to accommodate the number of fans their stadiums can hold, meaning supply and demand will drive hotel prices up. That’s already true in some host cities, like Monterrey and Vancouver, where hotel room prices during the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches have already risen by more than 150 percent when compared to the same dates in 2025.

To avoid paying sky-high rates, attendees will need to get creative when it comes to finding affordable hotel rooms. Fortunately, several host cities, including Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, and Miami, have a little-known way to score a hotel room: booking with a company that holds rooms just for World Cup fans. It’s called CrewFare, and it’s “built specifically for major events,” says Jason van Esso, Crewfare Founder and CEO. “Fans get exclusive rates negotiated directly with hotels, and host committees gain insight into who’s traveling to their city.” Crewfare also gives $2 from each booking to a non-profit organization chosen by the host city. Atlanta bookings will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Georgia, while Miami’s funds will go to the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade, to name just a few.

Booking with Crewfare has two potential advantages, both of which were true in the four checks Matador Network ran to hotel room availability in Miami and San Francisco. The first is price. The rates available on Crewfare are exclusive to Crewfare and not found on any other booking websites. The second equally important advantage is availability. In Matador’s testing, we were able to find rooms on Crewfare at hotels that appeared as sold out on their own websites and on aggregates like Booking.com. While the rates are still high compared to non-game dates — for example, rooms at the Aloft Miami Aventura are $385 a night on June 13-16, 2026, compared to $152 the weekend before — they’re still cheaper than rates found on other sites.

For now, van Esso says all six of the currently listed cities have been popular with travelers, each for unique reasons. “LA will host the opener,” he says, “Miami attracts international travelers, and Dallas hosts the most matches.” However, he expects all host cities will be equally in demand after the FIFA draw on December 5, which will determine which teams are playing when. That’s also when FIFA open ticket sales are expected to begin, and hotels are likely to shift their prices if their cities are hosting in-demand matches, such as USA-Argentina or Brazil-Uruguay.

As of mid-November, only six host committees have partnered with Crewfare, though more are expected to come online soon. That includes:

For the best rate, it’s advisable to book your rooms before teams are announced on December 5. If you try that tactic, be sure to check the booking cancellation policy. Because reservations are made as part of a room block, there may be less flexibility than usual regarding cancellation policies, room upgrades, or change fees than if you booked directly with the hotel. Fortunately, you don’t need to worry that you’re taking a room from a coach, merch seller, volunteer, or someone else affiliated with FIFA who may need the room. Crewfare isn’t managing staff or team travel for this tournament,” van Esso says. “Our focus is making travel easy for fans and attendees. ”
