HOME TO MORE THAN ONE BILLION, there’s no shortage of people in India. But it’s not the sheer quantity of the people that make for brilliant portraits — it’s the quality and colour and texture of the people. It’s the warmth and open hearts, the willingness to pause their day for a moment and give the gift of an image. As a photographer, India astounded me each day in this regard.
