I’m from the north side of Milwaukee. Growing up, my zip code had the highest incarceration rate in the US. But I wanted to succeed and not let anything get in the way, and basketball was like the good angel on my shoulder. My whole life, I always considered myself a basketball player, but once my playing career ended, I realized it’s not just me as a basketball player — it’s me as a person that got me here. And as I started traveling and posting about it and saw the response, I found that I could inspire other people, which is all I ever wanted to do. And if I can do it, you can do it. Get out there and explore the world. Today’s a good day to have a good day!
