Cappadocia, Turkey, located in Central Anatolia, is best known for its otherworldly landscape, subterranean cities, and houses carved from stone. The unusual rock formations of the area, known as fairy chimneys, are the result of thousands of years of rain and wind erodsion. Underground cities, some up to eight stories deep, run throughout the area. This region is marvelous, and you’ll never forget seeing the sunrise from a hot air balloon.
