Summary:
Matador is looking for a results-driven Social Media Coordinator with experience supporting the social media manager and the editorial team in executing daily content and engagement strategies across multiple platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Twitter/X, and YouTube. Skilled in scheduling and publishing content, crafting compelling social copy, developing creative assets, and fostering audience engagement to strengthen brand presence and community growth. Collaborative and adaptable professional with a strong understanding of social media trends, platform features, and digital storytelling within the travel industry, while effectively contributing to broader editorial initiatives as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce a high volume of original short-form edits daily — pulling from Matador’s Dropbox library, archive footage, and air-dropped clips, and turning them into finished TikToks and Instagram Reels
- Spot a trend or generate an original idea, then immediately dive into the b-roll and execute multiple edits in a short window
- Mine existing photo and video sets for original hooks, standout moments, and shareable angles
- Develop original travel content concepts — both series and standalone — from existing assets
- Stay on top of what’s trending in travel social and translate it into timely content
- Collaborate with the Social Media Manager and Director of Editorial on social strategy
- Schedule content across social media accounts and platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Twitter, and YouTube)
- Engage with our audience, and other accounts, on social media
- Track what’s trending in travel social media and translate it into timely content opportunities
Required Skills:
- Mastery of CapCut and a proven ability to edit short-form video at high velocity
- Ability to turn a trend or a raw idea into a finished, platform-native edit quickly
- Proven track record of looking at a folder of footage and instantly seeing the hooks, cuts, and stories inside it
- Ability to generate original travel content ideas, both series and one-off, from existing material
- Social asset design with a strong visual sense that builds brand consistency
- Understanding and constant learning of new features on social, specifically Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest
- Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, AI tools
Qualifications/Experience/Education:
- Based in either the Bay Area or Los Angeles, with the ability to work in-office with the CEO or Creative Director
- Experience working in social media
- Ability to write dynamic, witty, and engaging copy for social media posts in a timely manner
- A strong eye for design and proven experience creating polished, on-brand visual assets using Canva
- In-depth knowledge of the latest travel trends, pop culture, and news
- Comfort and proficiency with AI tools for copywriting, ideation, image creation, and day-to-day workflow
Nuts and Bolts:
- Full-time independent contractor with monthly compensation
- Remote position (i.e., working from your home office) with availability to visit colleagues in either Sausalito or Venice, California
