IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS SWALLOWED UP BY NATURE. Vines are creeping up the walls, windows, doors, around staircases, and inside houses.

Gouqi Island — one of the 400 islands of the archipelago of Shengsi, located east of China’s Zhejiang province — is home to an abandoned fishing village that has been reclaimed by Mother Earth.

What used to be, according to the Dailymail, a “fishing hub” is now left empty and neglected by those who moved to the mainland to fill their financial needs.

Although eerie, it is difficult not to see beauty in the work of Mother Nature.

After all, she is just taking back what was once hers.
