Brooklyn-born Humza Deas turned 18 this year. He is also chasing almost 200k followers on Instagram. He earned every one, surfing subways, climbing bridges, and scaling New York City’s skyscrapers for the perfect photo. It’s hardly astonishing that a high school student in 2015 started taking photos on a smart phone. At the age of 16, he bought a second-hand iPhone and began posting lifestyle photos to Instagram — skateboarding, urban hacking, and streetscapes. The driven and self-taught photographer was given his first camera at 17. Soon enough people began to notice him, and after posting a photo that featured his feet dangling high over Times Square, New York magazine featured an identical image on its cover. We’ve chosen a selection of posts from his Instagram account that will undoubtedly make you up your game.
