MATADOR has been running the Glimpse Correspondents Program for three years, and we are proud to have supported our correspondents in the creation of high-quality investigative travel journalism stories, from a close look at prostitution in the Philippines, to a photographic report from Beirut post-bombing, to a hard look at the process of forgiveness in Rwanda.
Glimpse Graduate Program: Apply Now for an Immersive Travel Journalism Mentorship
Now, Glimpse has evolved into our Glimpse Graduate Program and is integrated into Matador’s educational arm, MatadorU. What does this mean for future Glimpse participants?
- Free tuition to MatadorU’s Travel Writing, Photography, and Filmmaking courses
- Intense one-on-one editorial mentorship and career guidance with the Glimpse Director and other MatadorU faculty
- Career training
- Opportunities for paid publication at Matador Network
- Participants can be living abroad or at home
Successful applicants will receive a full year of study in the field of travel journalism. The first six months will be spent working closely with the Glimpse Director and other MatadorU staff to pitch and develop stories around a project. Glimpse Graduate students will receive critical feedback on their work and learn how to develop ideas from initial queries and drafts into compelling, publishable pieces.
At the end of the six-month mentorship period, students will continue for six more months of independent study, where there will be ample opportunity for peer-review workshops and publication at Matador Network.
The application period runs from May 1, 2013 to July 31, 2013. For more information, and to apply — visit the Glimpse Graduate Program page. Best of luck!
