At first, it might look like a bad idea: in the Western world entomophagy, or eating insects, is not common. But if you’ve been brave enough to try them while traveling, you know they’re actually delicious (and hey, how come you find eating insects gross, but love seafood?). That’s already a good reason to eat them, but there are even more benefits: they’re rich in protein, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals.
There are also environmental reasons to eat insects (they’re basically much more eco-friendly than ‘normal’ meat), and even the UN has recommended starting to introduce them in our diets to lower demand for meat. If you’re curious about them but not yet convinced, this infographic by Western Exterminator Company offers lots of info to start eating insects.
