The Venetian

If you’re Vegas-bound, you won’t be able to resist a quick peek at the nightly rates at The Venetian. It’s not the cheapest hotel in Las Vegas, but you’ll never regret splurging on an over-the-top suite or a ride on the resort’s gondolas. Beyond the hotel’s restaurant (Italian, of course) and casino, you’ll have the bright lights of the Strip at your disposal.

Getting there from the airport: As with most Vegas hotels on the Strip, taking an Uber/Lyft is the logical option. The 10-minute ride will set you back $20-30, or you could hop on the Centennial Express (CX) and walk from the Flamingo Resort.

Typical HotelTonight rate: Last-minute deals vary drastically. Realistically, you’re looking at around $500, but rates fluctuate considerably.

The rooms aren’t quite as cavernous as The Venetian, but they’re still larger than average. Even entry-level units come with posh marble bathrooms where you can get ready for a night on the town. Fancier suites at the Treasure Island Hotel have whirlpool tubs and Strip views. In addition to the casino and famous lagoon pool, the resort has a slew of restaurants and bars and hosts the resident Cirque du Soleil production, Mystère.

Getting there from the airport: Right across the street from The Venetian, it’s around 10 minutes by Uber/Lyft, and you’ll soon earn back that $20-30 charge on the slot machines.

Typical HotelTonight rate: Last-minute deals can be found for as low as $100 per night.

It’s hard to beat the Virgin Hotel for style in Sin City. “Chambers” are dotted across three towers with furnishings and artwork you’ll consider sneaking into your bag on check-out day. Most have views of the Strip, and all have pre-stocked mini bars for getting the night started. If you’re feeling especially flush, you could book a suite or villa. The pool and spa at this hip hotel might be the nicest in Vegas.

Getting there from the airport: This hotel is even closer to the airport; it’s a five-minute drive. If you’d rather save your dime for the casino, the 108 bus takes 15-20 minutes.

Typical HotelTonight rate: Last-minute deals can be as ludicrously cheap as $96 a night, but expect to see rates between $200 and $300.

If you’re more about the thrills than blackjack, the Strat Hotel has a powered tower ride and rollercoaster on the premises. This Vegas hotel on the Strip is actually home to the tallest freestanding tower in the United States, which you can visit purely for the views or hand yourself over to gravity with the SkyJump experience. After that, you’ll be ready for a poolside cocktail at Swim & Social or a giggle at the hotel’s comedy club.

Getting there from the airport: It’s a 20-minute drive by Uber or around 40 minutes on the 108 bus.

Typical HotelTonight rate: Last-minute deals can be found for as little as $70 per night.

Step away from the chips and slip into something spookier at this haunted hotel in downtown Las Vegas. Built in 1932, the hotel is part of Binion’s Gambling Hall on the Fremont Street Experience. Guests report paranormal activity — shadowy figures and unexplained footsteps — and a general sense of unease. However, if you’re a spook skeptic, you’ll sleep like a baby in these cozy vintage-style rooms, especially after a flutter on the casino floor.

Getting there from the airport: It’ll cost around $35 for an Uber, or you can take the 108 bus to the Bonneville Transit Center.

Typical HotelTonight rate: Haunted rooms sell for as little as $49 on HotelTonight.
