This Luxury Resort in Cabo Is Perfect for Travelers Who Love to Be the Life of the Party

Cabo San Lucas Travel Luxe Travel Epic Stays Beaches and Islands

My first trip out of the country that wasn’t for school was to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. I went with a group of friends for my birthday, and I remember clearly the fantastic food, lively locals, and amazing culture that made the trip come to life. Three years later, I got to spend another birthday in Cabos, but this time, I would check in to the ME Cabo, a hot resort that went through a massive $10 million upgrade that I have to say was worth every penny.

Cabo has beautiful beaches, but many parts have harsh waters that make them unsafe for swimmers. The ME Cabo is one of the few resort in Cabo built on the area’s one swimmable beach. And if you love to party, this resort has figured out the classiest way to do it, whether it’s for a birthday, bachelorette party, or just because. With excellent new restaurants and plenty to do, you might find yourself tempted never to leave the resort.

We hope you love the spaces and stays we recommend! Just so you know, Matador may collect a small commission from the links on this page if you decide to book a stay. Listed prices are accurate as of the time of publication.

What you get

ME Cabo Lobby at Sunset

The ME Cabo is part of Meliá International, a brand known for its impressive luxury accommodations in destinations like Barcelona and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. One of the standout features of ME Cabo is its stunning architecture and design. The resort’s sleek and contemporary style is evident throughout the property, from the guest rooms and suites to the common areas and public spaces. Guests will appreciate the open-air concept and use of natural light that create a sense of spaciousness and relaxation.

On arrival, I was greeted with a breathtaking view of the ocean and the famous Cabo arch while taking in the ocean breeze. While checking in, we were served glasses of bubbly and greeted by our personal concierge before heading up to my one-bedroom suite. The rooms at ME Cabo are stunning, combining traditional Mexican design with luxury finishes and warm natural hues. My room had two bathrooms with rainfall showers and a massive countertop that stretched across the back, perfect for getting ready. In the living room was a lush couch and a “maxibar,” and in the other room, a comfortable bed. But the best part of the room was the huge balcony and panoramic ocean view with the arch in the distance. The only nuisance was sometimes cruise ships would pull up to visit the arch during the day, but they would usually stay for a few hours and be gone in time for me to enjoy the sunset view.

Amenities include high-speed internet, room service, a fitness center, a spa, a gorgeous pool with a DJ and swim-up bar, valet parking, and laundry services. For issues with any of those or any other needs, a concierge was available whenever we needed her to help with any questions about our stay and make any required reservations.

What to eat

ME Cabo Mamazzita restaurant

One of the significant changes after the renovations is that the hotel partnered with the popular Mexican restaurant group Grupo Rosa Nega to create four excellent restaurants with food that does not disappoint. Mamazzita Mexican Soul serves delicious Mexican food with a flair and is open for breakfast (my personal favorite is the chilaquiles made with chips covered in green salsa, crema, onions, cilantro, fried eggs, and a meat of choice) and dinner. Mamazzita comes alive at dinner, complete with live performances and dancers scattered throughout the restaurant to set the tone. Menu standouts include a massive chicharron served with a soft cheese and different salsas, lobster tail elote, and shrimp tacos in blue corn tortillas. Creamy guacamole is made tableside, and I could’ve ordered just that and been completely satisfied.

Funky Geisha is another popular spot for lunch and dinner, serving Thai, Chinese, and Japanese-inspired cuisine. The restaurant is located right on the sand, and I loved taking my shoes off to sit underneath its cabanas with plush seating low to the ground. The short rib tacos are a highlight, and are infused with smoky flavors and served with avocado, pickled onions, and different sauces. Guests can also enjoy classics like edamame, egg rolls, and sushi rolls. The bar also serves unique cocktails like the Funky, a rum-based drink complete with smoke.

The resort has also introduced the Mediterranean Tabboo Beach Club and Restaurant, a personal favorite. Whether lunch or dinner, the beach club is where the party lives. The restaurant is situated next to the resort’s massive multi-level swimming pool, which has a swim-up bar and a DJ booth over the top, surrounded by lounge chairs and cabanas. And once the DJ starts late morning, the party lives on well into the night, complete with good-looking dancers, lots of sparklers, and a fireworks show. The food at Taboo is delicious, and we enjoyed Mediterranean classics like pita bread and hummus and an arugula salad topped with cherry tomatoes and burrata.

If you are looking for a late-night hotspot, check out Confessions Skybar & Tapas. This rooftop bar uses creative mixology, beautiful views, funky music, and tasty food to create a serious vibe. I enjoyed the lobster tacos and some French fries with rosemary, along with a cocktail made with gin, lime juice, raspberry syrup and a sparkling rosé. The refreshing treat and cool vibes made for a great final night at ME Cabo.

Things to do

ME Cabo beach

ME Cabo by Melia is for the traveler looking for a nonstop party that keeps it classy. There’s plenty to do without ever leaving the property. Being on the only swimmable beach in Cabo means easy access to the waves. If you’re looking for adventure, the staff can help you book any boating or watersport excursions you might want to try.

ME Cabo also prioritizes the magic and culture of this region. From the moment you arrive at the resort, you’ll be greeted by murals created by local artists. I recommend heading to the south side of the resort, which feels like its own art gallery.

ME Cabo spa

One of the resort’s most relaxing activities is the Korpo Wellness Spa. This spa will take you away from the action and transport you into an inclusive wellness experience. This spa has everything you need, including a spa circuit with a steam room and jacuzzis of different temperatures. My massage was complete with an essential oil scent of my choice, and you’d think the masseuse’s hands were made of magic. The signature treatment is its CBD Detox Massage, which uses CBD oil to improve lymphatic and blood circulation and relieve tension and pain. The spa also boasts a Facial HIIT Tri-Complex that combines saffron, sophora and peptides as an anti-aging treatment. After your trip, you’ll be ready to get back to the party.
