Stockholm, Sweden is a city that stands out from the rest of Scandinavia with its colourful architecture, exceptional dining and cafe culture and eco-friendly lifestyle. The vast archipelago is spread out across 14 islands, where Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea. The capital’s proximity to the water plays a huge part in the city’s culture and way of life. Throughout the year, you’ll see locals swimming, paddling and fishing across the archipelago, while restaurants from Michalin Star dining to little boat houses serve some of the best fish and seafood dishes in Scandinavia. It’s also the most beautiful capital in the region. With the blend of parks and forests, historic cobbled streets lined with cafes and brightly painted houses, and lively districts — each with their own character — you won’t get bored easily. And when is comes to accommodation, you won’t be disappointed. Famed for detail-driven (and often quirky) design, destination dining, and outstanding service, Stockholm hotels mirror the special character of the city.

Where to stay in Stockholm
Although there are many neighborhoods to explore, you can somewhat divide the centre of Stockholm in two. Östermalm, the city’s chic neighborhood, is where you’ll find Michelin-starred restaurants and upscale clubs. While on the other side Södermalm is a more laid back with coffee shops, vintage, original boutiques, and cozy bars. Regardless of where you decide to base yourself, the city is easy to navigate. It has an excellent public transportation system with several bus lines, metro, commuter rails, trams and ferries.
The best time to visit Stockholm
Consider going during the summer months when temperatures are mild, and days are long. With up to 18 hours of daylight, there’s plenty of time to explore the outdoors.
