We’ve grown accustomed to paying close attention to the vibrant wildflower blooms in California, but this year, one of the most striking explosions of floral color is happening in Italy’s Umbria region.
In the grasslands surrounding the Italian village of Castelluccio, fields of violets, poppies, daffodils, buttercups, purple eugenia, clovers, shamrocks, and other flowers are currently in full bloom. The bloom occurs every year between late May and early July, and it’s called “La Fioritura”.
