THIS PAST June my partner and I left Nelson, BC in our ’99 Mitsubishi Delica, a 4×4 van that’s right-hand drive and a Japanese domestic import. We’d spent the previous several months taking out the back seats and building a bed, installing an awning and a rooftop cargo box, sewing curtains, and figuring out how to store and organize everything we’d need for 80 days on the road.

We slept down logging roads, at boat launches, in parks, Wal-Mart parking lots, and also the odd campground to use some services. Our main objective was to explore Eastern Canada, a part that many westcoasters don’t see given how big the country is. The majority of our time was spent in PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland. The above video is only a short teaser of the awesome outdoor and cultural adventure that is Atlantic Canada. I strongly urge anyone, especially Canadians, to get out to this part of the country. It’s a different world.
