Destination Art: Explore Edmonton with Kyle Huber

Kyle Huber, a photographer and visual designer, and his friend Tommy Lundberg team up with local Annaliza Toledo, a graffiti artist and muralist, to explore the Edmonton art scene and the Silver Skate Festival. For 28 years, this event has combined sports, heritage, and art into a 10-day extravaganza. Most memorable for Huber is the time spent wandering around the massive ice castles -- art pieces unto themselves -- and the nightly burning of a sculpture. But a close second is Baijiu, Annaliza’s favorite downtown restaurant and cocktail bar, where the flavors, presentation, and atmosphere are all on point.

Edmonton, Alberta, has a cutting-edge art scene that embraces arts of all disciplines. From graffiti, murals, and festivals to avant-garde dining, the creativity knows no bounds. Our advice is to expect the unexpected, and definitely arrive hungry and ready for adventure.
