Oyster farming with the Bluffton Oyster Company

The Bluffton Oyster Company, run by Larry Toomer, is the last hand-shucking house in South Carolina. The company has been in the family since 1899, and its building is now recognized as a historic feature in the community. Listen in as Larry describes how they bring in their oysters and other shellfish. One thing you can be sure about is that it’s fresh as can be!

This video is proudly produced in partnership with the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce & VCB.
