Introduction

Sweet tea, palmetto lined drives and antebellum mansions, these are some of the iconic images of South Carolina that come to mind for many people. The South Carolina State Parks department has a program called Settlers and Soldiers to commemorate this history and people who founded and defended the state and its culture.

South Carolina today is also known for its sea side towns, hunting, fishing, and water sports, and according to Marjabelle Young Stewart, its good manners.
